Sacred Heart Of Jesus 11

Prayer To The Sacred Heart Of Jesus

O most holy heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you and with lively sorrow for my sins I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to your will. Grant, Good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you. Protect me in the midst of danger. Comfort me in my afflictions. Give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, your blessing on all that I do and the grace of a holy death. Amen.

St. Margaret Mary1

An Offering to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

O divine Heart of Jesus, grant, I beseech Thee, eternal rest to the souls in purgatory, final grace to all who are to die today, true repentance to sinners, the light of faith to pagans, Thy blessing to me and to all who are mine. To Thee, O most loving Heart of Jesus, do I therefore commend all these souls, and for them I offer all Thy merits, together with the merits of the most Blessed Mother and of all the saints and angels, and also together with all the Sacrifices of the Mass, the Holy Communions, the prayers and good works that are made today throughout the entire Christian world. Amen.

SacredHeartJesus3

Novena of Confidence to the Sacred Heart Of Jesus

O Lord Jesus Christ, to Thy Most Sacred Heart I confide this intention (silently mention your intention…). Only look upon me, then do what Thy Heart inspires. Let Thy Sacred Heart decide…I count on it…I trust in it…I throw myself on its mercy. Lord Jesus! Thou wilt not fail me.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in Thee.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe in Thy love for me.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom come!

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I have asked Three for many favors, but I earnestly implore this one. Take it, place it in Thy open, broken Heart and when the Eternal Father looks upon it, covered with Thy Precious Blood, He will not refuse it. It will no longer be my prayer, but Thine, O Sacred Heart of Jesus. O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in Thee. Let me never be confounded. Amen.

Christ's Shoulder1

Prayer for the Wound in Christ’s Shoulder (St. Bernard)

O most loving Jesus, meek lamb of God, I a miserable sinner, salute and worship the most sacred wound of Thy shoulder. Alone thou didst bear Thy heavy cross which so tore Thy flesh and laid bare Thy bones as to inflict on Thee an anguish greater than any other wound on Thy Blessed Body. I adore Thee, O Jesus, Most Sorrowful, I praise and glorify Thee and give Thee thanks for this most secret painful wound, beseeching Thee by the merit and pain of Thy heavy cross to be merciful to me a sinner and to forgive me my mortal and venial sins and to lead me on towards heaven along the Way of the Cross. Amen.

samaritan2

Prayer for Christ’s Mercy (St. Jerome)

O Lord, show your mercy to me and gladden my heart. I am like the man on the way to Jericho who was overtaken by robbers, wounded and left for dead. O Good Samaritan, come to my aid, I am like the sheep that went astray. O Good Shepherd, seek me out and bring me home in accord with Your will. Let me dwell in Your house all the days of my life and praise You for ever and ever with those who are there. Amen.

Praying A The Cross 10

Act of Reparation for Blasphemies Uttered Against the Holy Name of Jesus

O Jesus, my Savior and Redeemer, Son of the living God, behold, we kneel before Thee and offer Thee our reparation; we would make amends for all the blasphemies uttered against Thy holy name, for all the injuries done to Thee in the Blessed Sacrament, for all the irreverence shown toward Thine immaculate Virgin Mother, for all the calumnies and slanders spoken against Thy spouse, the holy Catholic and Roman Church. O Jesus, who hast said: “If you ask the Father anything in My name, He will give it to you,” we pray and beseech Thee for all our brethren who are in danger of sin; shield them from every temptation to fall away from the true faith; save those who are even now standing on the brink of the abyss; to all of them give light and knowledge of the truth, courage and strength for the conflict with evil, perseverance in faith and active charity! For this do we pray, most merciful Jesus, in Thy name, unto God the Father, with whom Thou livest and reignest in the unity of the Holy Ghost world without end. Amen.

Our Lady of Good Counsel5

Our Lady of Good Counsel Novena I (Attributed to Pius XII)

O Holy Virgin, to whose feet we are led by our anxious uncertainty in our search for and attainment of what is true and good, invoking you by the sweet title of Mother of Good Counsel, we beseech you to come to our assistance, when, along the road of this life, the darkness of error and of evil conspires towards our ruin by leading our minds and our hearts astray. O Seat of Wisdom and Star of the Sea, enlighten the doubtful and the erring, that they be not seduced by the false appearances of good; render them steadfast in the face of the hostile and corrupting influences of passion and of sin. O Mother of Good Counsel, obtain for us from your Divine Son a great love of virtue, and, in the hour of uncertainty and trial, the strength to embrace the way that leads to our salvation. If your hand sustains us, we shall walk unmolested along the path indicated to us by the life and words of Jesus, our Redeemer; and having followed freely and securely, even in the midst of this world’s strife, the Sun of Truth and Justice under your maternal Star, we shall come to the enjoyment of full and eternal peace with you in the haven of salvation. Amen.

Our Lady of Good Counsel Novena II

May the kind intercession of Mary, Thy glorious and ever Virgin-Mother, be our help, we pray Thee, O Lord, that it may make those whom it has blessed with continual favors ever to know what should be done, and then strengthen them to carry it our faithful. Who livest and reignest forever. Amen

O Mary, thou art favored more than all other women on earth, for in the presence of our God thou hast aided us in our weakness. Rule over us, thou and thy Son, because thou hast freed us from the hands of our enemies.

(Hail Mary…)

Mary Speaks:

He that listens to me shall not be put to shame, and they that work by me shall not sin (Ecclus. 24:30)

O God, who didst give her who bore Thy beloved Son, to be our Mother, and didst design to glorify her fair image by a wondrous apparition, grant, we beseech Thee, that by always following her counsels we may be able to live after Thine own Heart and arrive happily in our heavenly fatherland. Though the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Russian painting of Mary as the Joy of All who Sorrow

Prayer to Our Lady of Hope

O Mary, my Mother, I kneel before thee with heavy heart. The burden of my sins oppresses me. The knowledge of my weakness discourages me. I am beset by fears and temptations of every sort. Yet I am so attached to the things of this world that instead of longing for Heaven I am filled with dread at the thought of death.

O Mother of Mercy, have pity on me in my distress! Thou are all-powerful with your Divine Son. He can refuse no request of thy Immaculate Heart. Show thyself a true Mother to me by being my advocate before His throne. O Refuge of Sinners and Hope of the Hopeless, to whom shall I turn if not to thee?

Obtain for me, then, O Mother of Hope, the grace of true sorrow for my sins, the gift of perfect resignation to God’s Holy Will, and the courage to take up my cross and follow Jesus. Beg of His Sacred Heart the special favor that I ask in this novena.

(Make your request)

But above all I pray, O dearest Mother, that through thy most powerful intercession my heart may be filled with Holy Hope, so that in life’s darkest hour I may never fail to trust in God my Savior, but by walking in the way of His commandments I may merit to be united with Him, and with thee in the eternal joys of Heaven. Amen.

Mary, our Hope, have pity on us.
Hope of the Hopeless, pray for us.
(Three Hail Mary’s)

Pontmain 2

Our Lady of Hope Novena II

I am the mother of fair love, and of fear, and of knowledge, and of holy hope. In me is all grace of the way and of the truth, in me is all hope of life and of virtue.  Come to me all ye that desire me and be filled with my fruits. (Eccilus. 24. 24-26)
O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Grace, Hope of the world.
Hear us, thy children, who cry to thee.

Let Us Pray

O God, who by the marvelous protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary hast deigned to strengthen us firmly in hope, grant, we beseech Thee, that by persevering in prayer at her admonition, we may obtain the favors we devoutly implore. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

(Three Hail Mary’s)

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us. And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

(Three Hail Mary’s)

O Holy Mary, my sovereign Lady, into thy blessed trust and special custody, and in the bosom of thy mercy, I this day and every day, and in the hour of my death, commend my soul and my body. To thee I commit all my hope and happiness, all my anxieties and miseries, my life and the end of my life, that through thy most holy intercession and through thy merits, all my actions may be guided and governed according to thine and thy Son’s will. Amen.

Our lady Of Sorrows7

Prayers in Honor of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Blessed Virgin Mary revealed to St. Bridget of Sweden (1303-1373) that seven graces are granted to the souls who honor her daily by saying seven Hail Mary’s and meditating on her tears and dolors.

1. I will grant peace to their families.
2. They will be enlightened about the divine mysteries.
3. I will console them in their pains and I will accompany them in their work.
4. I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not oppose the adorable will of my divine Son or the sanctification of their souls.
5. I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy and I will protect them at every instant of their lives.
6. I will visibly help them at the moment of their death, they will see the face of their Mother.
7. I have obtained (This Grace) from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors, will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son and I will be their eternal consolation and joy.

St. Alphonsus Liguori testifies to complementary revelations given by Our Lord to St. Elizabeth of Hungary (1207-1231) where Jesus further promises four special graces to those dedicated to the sufferings of the co-redeeming Mother:

1. That those who before death invoke the Blessed Mother in the name of her sorrows, should obtain true repentance of all their sins.
2. That He would protect in their tribulations all who remember this devotion, and that He would protect them especially at the hour of death.
3. That He would impress upon their minds the remembrance of His Passion, and that they should have their reward for it in Heaven.
4. That He would commit such devout clients to the hands of Mary, so that she might obtain for these souls all the graces she wanted to lavish upon them.

Our Lady Of Sorrows3

O God, come to my assistance; O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

1. I grieve for you, O Mary most sorrowful, in the affliction of your tender heart at the prophecy of the holy and aged Simeon. Dear Mother, by your heart so afflicted, obtain for me the virtue of humility and the gift of the holy fear of God. Hail Mary…

2. I grieve for you, O Mary most sorrowful, in the anguish of your most affectionate heart during the flight into Egypt and your sojourn there. Dear Mother, by your heart so troubled, obtain for me the virtue of generosity, especially toward the poor, and the gift of piety. Hail Mary…

3. I grieve for you, O Mary most sorrowful, in those anxieties which tried your troubled heart at the loss of your dear Jesus. Dear Mother, by your heart so full of anguish, obtain for me the virtue of chastity and the gift of knowledge. Hail Mary…

4. I grieve for you, O Mary most sorrowful, in the consternation of your heart at meeting Jesus as He carried His Cross. Dear Mother, by your heart so troubled, obtain for me the virtue of patience and the gift of fortitude. Hail Mary…

5. I grieve for you, O Mary most sorrowful, in the martyrdom which your generous heart endured in standing near Jesus in His agony. Dear Mother, by your afflicted heart obtain for me the virtue of temperance and the gift of counsel. Hail Mary…

6. I grieve for you, O Mary most sorrowful, in the wounding of your compassionate heart, when the side of Jesus was struck by the lance before His Body was removed from the Cross. Dear Mother, by your heart thus transfixed, obtain for me the virtue of fraternal charity and the gift of understanding. Hail Mary…

7. I grieve for you, O Mary most sorrowful, for the pangs that wrenched your most loving heart at the burial of Jesus. Dear Mother, by your heart sunk in the bitterness of desolation, obtain for me the virtue of diligence and the gift of wisdom. Hail Mary…

Let Us Pray:

Let intercession be made for us, we beseech You, O Lord Jesus Christ, now and at the hour of our death, before the throne of Your mercy, by the Blessed Virgin Mary, Your Mother, whose most holy soul was pierced by a sword of sorrow in the hour of Your bitter Passion. Through You, O Jesus Christ, Savior of the world, Who with the Father and the Holy Ghost lives and reigns world without end. Amen.

Prayer for God’s Protection and Christ’s Presence (St. Patrick)

As I arise today, may the strength of God pilot me, the power of God uphold me, the wisdom of God guide me. May the eye of God look before me, the ear of God hear me, the word of God speak for me. May the hand of God protect me, the way of God lie before me, the shield of God defend me, the host of God save me. May Christ shield me today…Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit, Christ when I stand, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me. Amen.

St. Patrick Breastplate

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,

St. Paul 3

Prayer to St. Paul For Patience

O glorious St. Paul, who from a persecutor of Christianity, didst become a most ardent apostle for zeal; and who to make known the Savior Jesus Christ unto the ends of the world didst suffer with the joy imprisonment, scourging, stoning, shipwrecks and persecutions of every kind and in the end didst shed thy blood to the last drop, obtain for us the grace to receive, as favors of the Divine mercy, infirmities, tribulations and misfortunes of the present life, so that the vicissitude of this our exile will not render us cold in the service of God, but will render us always more faithful and more fervent. Amen.

st. philomena2

St. Philomena Novena

O Faithful Virgin and glorious martyr, St. Philomena, who works so many miracles on behalf of the poor and sorrowing, have pity on me. Thou knowest the multitude and diversity of my needs. Behold me at thy feet, full of misery, but full of hope. I entreat thy charity, O great Saint! Graciously hear me and obtain from God a favorable answer to the request which I now humbly lay before thee…

(Here specify your petition.)

I am firmly convinced that through thy merits, through the scorn, the sufferings and the death thou didst endure, united to the merits of the Passion and death of Jesus, thy Spouse, I shall obtain what I ask of thee, and in the joy of my heart I will bless God, who is admirable in His Saints. Amen.

Saint Philomena, Powerful with God, Pray for us!

St. Philomena 3

St. Philomena Novena II

O Glorious Virgin and Martyr, beloved child of God, blessed Philomena! I rejoice in thy glory, and give God thanks, that He has bestowed on thee such power, for the glory of His Name, for the edification of His Church, and to honor thy merits in life, and thy sufferings and martyrdom in death. Looking up to thee in heaven, I rejoice to see thee so exalted, so powerful, so generous. I congratulate thee on having been so faithful to the precepts and counsels of Jesus Christ, while on earth, and on being so munificently rewarded by Him in heaven. Moved by thine example to the practice of solid virtue, filled with hope at the view of the rewards bestowed upon thee, I resolve to imitate thee in the avoidance of all evil, and in the fulfillment of God‟s Holy Will. Assist me, O glorious little Saint, by thy powerful intercession, and obtain especially for me perfect purity—invincible fortitude in all trials, temptations, and sufferings—generosity which refuses nothing to God—and love stronger than death for the one true Faith—a ready and willing obedience to the Holy Roman Catholic Church and to our Sovereign Pontiff, the common father of all the Faithful, the pastor of pastors and of their flocks, and vice-regent of Jesus Christ, throughout the world.

Besides these favors which I have now asked through thy powerful intercession, O blessed Philomena! I also ask an additional grace and favor, which I have the fullest confidence of obtaining through thy powerful intercession.

(Here mention the graces and favor)

Surely God, Who is so good, and for Whom thou hast given up thy life—God Who is so good, and Who has bestowed so many gifts and favors upon and through thee—God Who is so good as to have died for me, and to give Himself to me in Holy Communion—God Who is so good as to have revealed the burning love of His Sacred Heart for me, surely He will not refuse to hearken graciously to thy prayers, to my supplications, and even to His own desire to help the afflicted. For this do I hope, while I put all my confidence in God and in thee, O Blessed Philomena! Amen.

O Jesus, grant me grace to love Thee and to make others love Thee. O Mary, my tender Mother, obtain for me a great love for Thy Divine Son, Jesus. Holy St. Joseph, bless me and intercede for me. St. Philomena, pray for me. Amen.

St. Therese (The Little Flower) Novena I

Saint Therese, The Little Flower, please pick me a rose from the Heavenly garden and send it to me with a message of love. Ask God to grant me the favor I thee implore…and tell Him I will love Him each day more and more.

(5-Our Fathers. 5-Hail Marys. 5-Glory Be’s…on the 5th day after the 5th set offer one more set of 5-Our Fathers. 5-Hail Marys. 5-Glory Be’s)

St. Therese- Holy Face and Child Jesus

St. Therese (The Little Flower) Novena II

O glorious Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face, cherished child of the Father, virgin espoused to the Son, humble Doctor instructed by the Holy Ghost, we greet thee with joy and approach thee with confidence.

The wonders wrought by thy intercession are too many to be counted; thou showest thyself the friend and advocate of all who have recourse to thee in time of need. We rely on thy childlike power over the Father’s Heart.

From thy place in Heaven thou seest our afflictions and, by a merciful disposition of Providence, thou sendest roses of pity to those who seek thy help.

There is no misery of body or of soul to which thou dost not respond with love. Thou who didst seek to be love in the heart of the Church, while still on earth, art forever love in the heart of the Church from the place that is thine in Heaven.

Descend to us, Saint Thérèse. Hasten to us who are waiting for a rose from heaven, a sign of thy compassion, a pledge of thy assistance. Who hath not heard of thy errands of love in every place and on every continent? Walk with us, Saint Thérèse, lest we wander from thy little way.

Change, we pray thee, our timid and faltering confidence, into a confidence that is limitless and bold, that by offering ourselves, as thou didst offer thyself, to the mystery of Merciful Love, our confidence may be perfected, as was thine, in the contemplation of the holy and adorable Face of Jesus: thine own heart’s treasure in this valley of tears, and thine all-surpassing joy in the brightness of the heavenly fatherland. Amen.

St. Rita 4

St. Rita Novena

O holy patroness of those in need, St. Rita, whose pleadings before the Divine Lord are almost irresistible, who for thy lavishness in granting favors hast been called the advocate of the hopeless and even the impossible; St. Rita, so humble, so pure, so mortified, so patient and of such compassionate love for thy Crucified Jesus that thou couldst obtain from Him whatsoever thou askest, on account of which all confidently have recourse to thee, expecting, if not always relief, at least comfort; be propitious to our petition, showing thy power with God on behalf of thy suppliant; be lavish to us, as thou hast been in so many wonderful cases, for the greater glory of God, for the spreading of thine own devotion, and for the consolation of those who trust in thee. We promise, if our petition is granted, to glorify thee, by making known thy favor, to bless and sing thy praises forever. Relying then upon thy merits and power before the Sacred Heart of Jesus we pray… .

Obtain for us our request by the singlar merits of thy childhood,
by the perfect union with the Divine Will,
by thy heroic sufferings during thy married life,
by the consolation thou didst experience at the conversion of thy husband,
by the sacrifice of thy children rather than see them grievously offend God,
by thy miraculous entrance into the convent,
by thy sever penances and thrice daily bloody scourging,
by the suffering caused by thy wound thou didst receive from the thorn of thy Crucified Saviour,
by the divine love which consumed thy heart,
by that remarkable devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, on which alone thou didst exist for four years,
by the happiness with which thou didts part from thy trails to join thy Divine Spouse, by the perfect example thou gavest to people of every state of live.

Pray for us, O holy St. Rita, that we may be worthy of the promise of Christ.

St. Rita 7

Saint Rita Prayer For Love Of Our Enemies

O God, who didst vouchsafe to communicate so great grace to Saint Rita that she imitated Thine example in the love of enemies and bore in her heart and on her countenance the sacred marks of Thy love and passion; grant we beseech Thee, by her merits and intercession, that we may love our enemies and ever contemplate with deep contrition the sorrows of Thy Passion; Who livest and riegnest world without end. Amen.

St. Zita3

Prayer to St. Zita

Dear follower of the Son of God, you desired to become a servant and died the death of a slave. You were not only a faithful maid-servant but a practical lover of the poor. Like Mary you could have said: “Behold the handmaid of the Lord.” Prompt domestics to be just and charitable, seeing in their employers children of God and setting an example for them as servants of God. Amen.

St. Martin de Porres 2

Prayer To Blessed Martin de Porres I

In this pain and sadness which weighs me down and for which I can find no human support, I turn to you, Blessed Martin. Be my friend and my protector and intercede for me with our merciful Father in heaven. Ask that my sins be forgiven and that I may be freed from the evils, which burden and distract me. Give me your spirit of sacrifice that I may welcome whatever God sends me for love of Him who makes all things a means of holiness.

O Heavenly Father, in the name of your Son and of His Blessed Mother, and by the merits of your faithful servant Martin, help me in my great trouble and do not forsake me. Amen.

St. Martin de Porres 5

Prayer to Blessed Martin de Porres II

To you Blessed Martin de Porres we prayerfully lift up our hearts filled with serene confidence and devotion. Mindful of your unbounded and helpful charity to all levels of society and also of your meekness and humility of heart, we offer our petitions to you. Pour out upon our families the precious gifts of your solicitous and generous intercession; show to the people of every race and every color the paths of unity and of justice; implore from our Father in heaven the coming of his kingdom, so that through mutual benevolence in God men may increase the fruits of grace and merit the rewards of eternal life. Amen.

St. Martin de Porres 2

Prayer for Humility After The Example of Blessed Martin de Porres.

O God, Who has given us in Your Humble Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, the model of all virtue and perfection, grant to us the virtue of humility. We think so little of You because we are so full of self. We cannot love You more until humility shows us our own nothingness and makes us rejoice in our complete dependence upon You.

You have given to the world a glorious apostle of humility, Blessed Martin de Porres. Guide us by his example and strengthen us through his intercessions in our efforts to conform our hearts to the humble Heart of Your Crucified Son.

Renew, O Lord, in these days, when pride and forgetfulness of You are so widespread, the wonders which You did perform through Your humble servant, Martin de Porres, during his lifetime. We pray that all the world may know of Blessed Martin and of the surpassing value of the virtue of humility. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

St. Martin de Porres 3

Blessed. Martin De Porres Novena

First Day.

Blessed Martin’s Humility.

BLESSED MARTIN imitated Our Lord, Who was meek and humble of heart. There was no pride or vanity in his soul. He knew that God is our Creator and that we are but His creatures. He understood that God loves us as children and only wants us to be happy. So he submitted entirely to the Holy Will of God. Let us all imitate Blessed Martin by humbly doing the Will of God in all things.

Let us pray.

O humble Blessed Martin, ask Our Lord to give us the grace of true humility that we may not be puffed up with foolish pride, but may be contented with the gifts that God gives us. Obtain for us the light of the Holy Ghost that we may understand, as you did, that pride is a deceit of the devil and that only by doing the Will of God can we be truly happy. Amen.

One Our Father. Ten Hail Marys. One Gloria (Glory be to the Father).

Second Day.

Blessed Martin’s Love of God.

BLESSED MARTIN’S whole soul was filled with the abundance of God’s love. He knew that Almighty God sent His Only Son into the world to suffer and die on the Cross for our sins. His heart was stirred with deep affection for so loving a Redeemer, and his whole life gives evidence of his sincere gratitude. May we, too, learn to love Our Savior more and more and show our love by our good works.

Let us pray.

O Blessed Martin, why are our hearts so cold and lacking in love for the Son of God, Who became a little Child for our salvation? Why are we so slow to love One Who loved us so much that He gave His life for mankind? Ask God to make us realize that the only way to happiness is by loving and serving Him with all our hearts and souls. Amen.

One Our Father. Ten Hail Marys. One Gloria (Glory be to the Father).

Third Day.

Blessed Martin’s Love of the Poor.

BLESSED MARTIN was called “the Father of the Poor”. He saw in the poor, the sick and the dying the children of God, and he helped them in a thousand practical ways. He studied medicine so that he might know how to cure the sick. Every day he distributed alms to the poor. He built an orphanage for children. Let us imitate the charity of Blessed Martin that God may bless us as He blessed him.

Let us pray.

Dear Blessed Martin, teach us to be generous with the gifts that God has given us. Make us sympathetic towards those who are suffering and afflicted. Pray to Our Redeemer and to Our Lady of Mercy that our hearts may not be hardened by sin and selfishness, but that we may always be kind and generous to our neighbors because they are the children of Our Heavenly Father. Amen.

One Our Father. Ten Hail Marys. One Gloria (Glory be to the Father).

Fourth Day.

Blessed Martin’s Faith.

BLESSED MARTIN had a lively faith in all the teachings of the Catholic Church because he knew that it was founded by Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Who can neither deceive nor be deceived. God rewarded Blessed Martin’s humble faith by enlightening his mind that he might believe the mysteries of our Holy Religion. May God give us the grace always to believe the truths that He has revealed.

Let us pray.

O glorious Blessed Martin, we need strong faith in God and His Holy Church, especially in these days when so many people have turned against religion. Bring to a knowledge and love of the true Church the non-Catholic members of your race (and of all races) that they may find the way to salvation and happiness. Ask God to make us faithful soldiers of Jesus Christ in life and in death. Amen.

One Our Father. Ten Hail Marys. One Gloria (Glory be to the Father).

Fifth Day.

Blessed Martin’s Confidence in God.

BLESSED MARTIN firmly relied on the goodness and promises of God. He hoped through the grace of God, and the merits of Jesus Christ, one day to obtain an eternal reward. We know that Saint Martin’s trust in God was not in vain. We, too, are confident that God will forgive us our sins if we are truly sorry and that He will give us everlasting life if we serve Him faithfully by obeying His commandments.

Let us pray.

Blessed Martin, help us to have a great trust in Almighty God. Make us understand that He is One Friend who will never desert us as long as we are true to Him. Keep us from foolishly presuming that we will be saved without doing our part, but keep us also from despair, which forgets the mercy of God. Ask the Child Jesus to increase in our hearts faith, hope, and charity. Amen.

One Our Father. Ten Hail Marys. One Gloria (Glory be to the Father).

Sixth Day.

Blessed Martin’s Devotion to Prayer.

BLESSED MARTIN kept his mind and heart always lifted up to the Creator of all things. His prayer came from the depths of his soul. He constantly turned to God to adore Him, to thank Him, and to ask Him for help. Blessed Martin prayed with humility and perseverance, and God was pleased to answer his prayers in miraculous ways. He will pray for us before the Throne of God in Heaven.

Let us pray.

Blessed Martin, help us to realize that Christ meant what He said when He promised: “Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and you shall find.” Make us faithful in attending Holy Mass and other devotions. Remind us to say our daily prayers to obtain the blessing of God. Ask the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary to obtain for us a share of the treasures of the Holy Rosary. Amen.

One Our Father. Ten Hail Marys. One Gloria (Glory be to the Father).

Seventh Day.

Blessed Martin’s Spirit of Penance.

BLESSED MARTIN was a brave man. He was not afraid of hard work. He did not weakly seek for comforts as we often do. Even though he labored so hard, he was glad to do severe penances for his sins and for the salvation of souls. If so holy a man did penances, how much more should we, who have seriously offended Almighty God by our sinfulness!

Let us pray.

Blessed Martin, from you we learn how to be courageous and valiant. From your life, we learn to avoid idleness and self-seeking. Give us some of that spirit of penance that you had, so that we may be brave in the struggle with temptation. Ask Jesus Crucified to give us the grace to fight the good fight for victory. Amen.

One Our Father. Ten Hail Marys. One Gloria (Glory be to the Father).

Eight Day.

Blessed Martin’s Reward.

BLESSED MARTIN died a holy and peaceful death. He had spent his life in doing good as a humble Lay-Brother of the Dominican Order. But he that humbles himself shall be exalted. Soon his heroic life became widely known. Let us rejoice that we have such a noble brother among the Saints of God in Heaven!

Let us pray.

Dear Blessed Martin, you have been raised up by Almighty God to show us the way to our true home. You have given us the good example and the encouragement that we need. We know from your life that to win the reward of glory we have but to love and serve the Best of Masters. May we ever be humble that we, too, may be exulted unto everlasting life. Amen.

One Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, One Gloria (Glory be to the Father).

Ninth Day.

Blessed Martin’s Miracles.

BLESSED MARTIN performed many miracles during his life and after his holy death. We can go to him with confidence for he will grant our petitions if they are for the good of our souls. His heart is very big, and he loves to help us, he is kind in every way. We have only to tell him our troubles and to ask him to help us. If we do our part, we can be sure that our dear friend Blessed Martin will do his.

Let us pray.

O Lord Jesus Christ, Who did inflame the heart of Blessed Martin with an ardent Love of the poor and Who did teach him the wonderful joy of true humility and the wisdom of accepting God’s Holy Will, grant that, like him, we may be ever truly humble of heart and full of Christ-like love for suffering humanity. Deign, we beseech You, that, by imitating the holy life and enjoying-the powerful help of this saintly Negro, the whole world may be drawn nearer to You, the Savior of the human race. Who lives and reigns, with God the Father, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, in the world without end. Amen.

One Our Father. Ten Hail Marys. One Gloria (Glory be to the Father).

St. Dominic Savio 7

Prayer to St. Dominic Savio

Dear St. Dominic, you spent your short life totally for love of Jesus and His Mother. Help youth today to realize the importance of God in their lives. You became a saint through fervent participation in the sacraments, enlighten parents and children to the importance of frequent confession and Holy Communion. At a young age you meditated on the sorrowful Passion of Our Lord. Obtain for us the grace of a fervent desire to suffer for love of Him.

We desperately need your intercession to protect today’s children from the snares of the world. Watch over them and lead them on the narrow road to Heaven. Ask God to give us the grace to sanctify our daily duties by performing them perfectly out of love for Him. Remind us of the necessity of practicing virtue especially in times of trial.

St. Dominic Savio, you who preserved your Baptismal innocence of heart, pray for us.

St. Dominic Savio 3

St. Dominic Savio’s Prayer to Our Lady

O Mary, I give you my heart. Grant me to be always yours. Jesus and Mary, be ever my friends; and, for love of you, grant me to die a thousand deaths rather than to have the misfortune of committing a single mortal sin.

St. Dominc Savio 7

Prayer of St. Dominic Savio

O God, pardon my sins, for I love You, and wish to love You forever. May this sacrament which in Your mercy You permit me to receive blot out all the sins I have committed by my hearing, sight, tongue, hands, and feet. May my body and soul be sanctified through the merits of Your Passion. Amen.

St. John Bosco and St. Dominic Savio 2

Novena to St. Dominic Savio

Dear St. Dominic Savio you grew under the supervision and care of St. John Bosco. Witnessing the zeal of your mentor you shared his desire to bring the Lord a great many souls. Despite your frail and weak constitution you devoutly waited for Holy Mass kneeling outside your church until the doors opened despite rain or snow.

We ask you to look upon all young people and inspire them to love the Holy Eucharist as you did. Pray that we may all share your aversion for sin and achieve a life of sanctity. Jesus always spoke of his love for children and we know that your requests will be well received. We humbly ask that you bring our petitions before the Lord.

Saint Dominic Savio pray for us. (Hail Mary)

St. Stephen 5

A Novena To St. Stephen For Persecuted Christians

O glorious St. Stephen, first Martyr for the Faith, filled with compassion for those who invoke you, with love for those who suffer, we humbly beg you to pray with us for persecuted Christians around the world. Cease not to intercede for those who suffer harassment, violence and death for being followers of Jesus. Ask the Lord to strengthen, comfort and encourage them. Above all, obtain for them the grace to one day meet God face to face, and praise Him through all eternity.

O most powerful St. Stephen, ask God to remember those who are imprisoned for their faith. Ask that those who are martyred because of their love for Jesus, may truly know Christ and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings. May God give them the grace to endure and to see their suffering as part of following in Christ’s footsteps.

Heavenly Father, we ask that You would make us ever mindful of our brothers and sisters around the world who need us to stand with them as they suffer in Your name. May they inspire their fellow believers to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly. Your Son Jesus Christ died for us all, good and bad alike. We pray for those who persecute Your people; may their hearts be turned towards You through the faithful witness of those they persecute. Bless those who seek to be the voice of persecuted Christians. We pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
